For a lot of Kansans, the end of summer means a trip out West to Hutchinson for the Kansas State Fair. The same is true for the Kansas Republican Party.
The Republican presence was bigger and better this year than ever before. Not only was the GOP represented by the "official" booths of Senator Pat Roberts, US Rep Todd Tiahrt, Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh and Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger, the all new GOP booth was a big hit at the Fair.
Between visits to the livestock barns, funnel cakes and rides, fairgoers had the chance to visit the GOP booth in the Meadowlark building and get information on Republican candidates, and register to vote. Not only was the traffic much higher at the GOP booth than the democrat booth, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
Insider also notes the broad support shown by all the different party groups to support the Fair efforts. Republicans from across the state took time away from work, school, and even the fun of the fair to help out. With that kind of support, the GOP can't help but be successful in 2008.

Yeah, that's what it takes to win elections in Kansas: a booth at the fair!!!
I love the smell of Republican desperation.
so you deleted my snarky comment about your lack of fresh material, then decided to honor it's spirit by providing fresh material.
The Democratic Party was awarded the "Longevity Award" by the fair organizers.
What did the GOP get? Nada.
Wow! A real booth! That'll help a lot. If there were any crowds they probably came to see an endangered species among the other fair animals. Curios whether Kobach showed up; he'd be right at home at an ag fair.
All political booths should be in the cattle barn, except those in with the chickens.
"FAIRly"
Oh my! That's hilariously clever! It's a wonder you're nt writing banner headlines for the NYTimes.
Duh, silly. Everyone knows the NYTimes doesn't hire political personalities to write headlines - they outsource it to moveon.org.
what is the best way to get laid at the State fair?
Where do folks hang each evening after the fair closes?
Where are the randy women?
Whoever heard of a "good piece of elephant" ?
